The journey started with a small room in Aziz Super Market situated at Shahbag in Dhaka city in 1994. A small computer-training center was developed with four PCs received from a well-wisher. Then another room was taken after working very hard for six months, and gradually in the next six months six more rooms were rented while a few of the trainees were provided with jobs at the same place. A few of them who got involved in the hire purchase system were carrying on their studies and earning a living. It was a rewarding experience indeed. This is how things fell into their places.

In the span of two years, more than fifty computers were acquired. Through school project, Nilkhet project and computer training project for each and every home, employment opportunities were given to almost a few hundred through the self-employment programs.

This is how Jubo Karmasangsthan Society (JUBOK) came into being. The thought started in 1994 but turning it into a reality was the aftgermath of all the hard work.

The traditional thought of �someone else will do it�, is in contrary to �as humans we ourselves create our fate� rather than the Creator. JUBOK started its journey with this belief as its theme. A huge plan was formulated based on four main ideas:

•  Turning small savings to huge funds

•  Building a skilled work force

•  Using sustainable and compatible technology

•  Finding our thrust sectors and investing in those projects.

Considering the pros and cons of business and social aspects, an immense work plan was formulated to carry out, implement and control the entire scheme.

On the eve of its journey, this entire scheme was only a thought. But In course of time, all these have turned into reality. Till now 30 massive projects, 40 medium sized projects and 3,000 small sized projects have been carried out in various sectors including agriculture, food domestic animal farming, fisheries and hatcheries, facilitating irrigation, seed and fertilizer, collection and distribution of the agricultural items, production of various items and trading. FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), i.e., regular use products, luxury items, sanitary items and many other sectors were identified and targeted for the projects. Under these projects, employment opportunities were created for almost 30,000 people. With the help of Vocational Training Center as well as IT Training, more than 50,000 male and female trainees were brought under the short and long-term training courses. Besides developing the professional skills, motivational programs were also included in these training programs in order to enhance the self-employment programs and invigorate the minds of all concerned.

All these attainments are the multiplied effects of the efforts made by all the employees at JUBOK. This organization, started with a monthly installment of Tk. 50, is now stepping forward with huge state-of-the-art projects like JUBOK PHONE.

JUBOK has not limited itself to ventures like JUBOK PHONE only, it has stretched out in almost each and every sector of the economy including housing, health, food and agriculture, human resource development, commerce & history, export-import, tourism, research and development, information and communication technology, investment and finance, social awareness development, media and publication and many more.

We are struggling to build a developed nation, besides enabling the common people to further enhance their economic conditions. This task is indeed very tough, but as life has no short cut, we have chosen the hard but sustainable way to make positive changes in our lives. And all our pursuits to reach our goal are strengthened by all the good wishes, support, love and devotion of all the people concerned.

We believe no individual effort, whatever big it is, can change the fate of the people of Bangladesh. It is the collective effort which can lead us to a prosperous Bangladesh.
